Frequently asked questions.

Do you charge for a site survey and quotation?

No. Site surveys and written quotations are free and without obligation.

Which areas of London do you cover?

We install driveways across North, South, East and West London, including Barnet, Enfield, Harrow, Hillingdon, Ealing, Hounslow, Richmond and Wandsworth. If you are nearby, ask and we will confirm.

Which driveway surface is right for my property?

It depends on your budget, the look you want, drainage, access and how the driveway will be used. At the survey we explain the pros and cons of resin bound, block paving, imprinted concrete and paving for your site.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

Often not, but front gardens over 5m² generally need a permeable surface, or drainage to a permeable area, to fall under permitted development. Conservation areas and dropped kerbs have their own rules. Check with your council; we'll explain what we know at survey.

How long does a driveway installation take?

Most domestic driveways take between a few days and two weeks depending on size, surface, groundwork and access. Your quotation includes an expected timescale.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. We install forecourts, entrances, communal paths and parking areas for businesses, landlords and managing agents.

What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

Resin bound mixes aggregate and resin together and trowels it flat, giving a smooth, permeable surface with no loose stones. Resin bonded scatters stone onto a layer of resin, giving a textured finish that is not permeable.

Which block paving pattern is best for a driveway?

Herringbone is generally recommended where cars turn and brake because the interlock resists movement. Other bonds suit paths and borders.

Is imprinted concrete slippery?

Sealed surfaces can be slippery when wet. An anti-slip additive can be mixed into the sealer – we recommend it on slopes and paths.

Can I park on porcelain paving?

Only if the porcelain is suitable for vehicle use and it is laid on a full bed over a proper sub-base. Many patio-grade slabs are not suitable.

Why don't you publish prices?

Because the base, access, drainage and waste removal vary so much between sites that a single price would be misleading. We give a written, itemised quotation after a free survey.
