Cost guide

Resin bound driveway cost: what affects it.

A plain-English guide to the factors that shape the cost of a resin bound driveway in London. We don’t list prices: you get an itemised written quotation after a free site survey.

The short answer

It depends on the base.

Resin bound costs are driven mainly by the base. An overlay on sound, well-drained concrete or tarmac needs far less work than a full dig-out with a new sub-base and porous asphalt.

The only reliable way to price a driveway is to see it. A survey tells us the ground conditions, levels, drainage and access – the things that make two similar-sized driveways cost very different amounts.

Cost factors

  • Size and shape of the area
  • Whether the existing base can be overlaid or must be rebuilt
  • Excavation depth and waste removal
  • New base: porous asphalt or concrete
  • Aggregate blend and stone size
  • Borders, edging and inlays
  • Drainage measures
  • Access, parking and skip placement

Comparing quotes

Check each quote includes excavation, sub-base, edging, drainage and waste.

  • Depth of base

Ask how deep the dig-out and sub-base will be.

  • Drainage

Ask where water will go and how.

  • Timescale

An expected start and duration should be stated.
